Hello and welcome to this Screencastify video about EdPuzzle. EdPuzzle is a wonderful technology tool that can be utilized in any classroom, especially blended and flipped classrooms. Essentially, teachers can create or search for preexisting videos to teach a concept. Teachers can conduct formative assessments of student learning through multiple choice and short answer questions. Here is an example of a lecture that I use in my human anatomy and physiology class. Note that the rain drop indicates there are questions associated with the video. These questions require the students to answer them and it will tell them if they got the question correct or not. There are also videos from popular channels such as YouTube, Khan Academy, National Geographic, and TED Talks. Also, other EdPuzzle user videos are located in this EdPuzzle link. They already have questions associated with them or you can duplicate them and make up your own questions. EdPuzzle is accessible because research-based UDL teaching strategies can be implemented. For example, representation of learning allows students to focus on what they are learning by providing multiple media formats, combining graphics with verbal descriptions, and quizzes to re-expose students to key content. Expression of learning can be accomplished by providing opportunities with support, multiple media, and formats. Also, students can be engaged in learning because they can take ownership of the video material. They can pause it and rewatch video segments in order to gain better understanding. To increase accessibility, teachers can use a captioning program or create a document with a script to accompany the video for students who are hearing impaired.
