Hi Mrs. Latham.
At the beginning of the 1st semester last year you told us about the emails you got from previous students thanking you for the preparation. I thought about that this week with one of my classes. Remember how most of our class absolutely hated the flipped classroom concept, with the online lectures and such? Well, who would guess that my English 102 class is taking the flipped class approach. With how jam packed the class is, there is a lot we do outside, so thank you for that preparation:) If you are continuing that strategy this year, tell your students that they can't get away from it, and they better not pout like last year's class did.
I am really enjoying the biology classes so far; I've spent so much time specializing in medically relevant topics like A&P that it's refreshing to study ecology again. Even at the honors level, it's easier than your sarcomeres or however you spell that. I'm actually beginning to consider other biology careers before I lock myself into premed. I think it would be interesting to study and work with marine biology and aquatics. I never considered anything other than an MD, so thinking about being an aquarist is strange, but again, refreshing.
Thanks again for helping me so much last year. I can't wait to see where this place takes me.

Hey Mrs. Latham,
I just want to email you and say thank you for everything you did for me as a teacher! If I hadn’t taken anatomy and gotten used to the video lectures I would be struggling harder than I ever have with my chemistry class.
So thank you for everything you did for me and I hope all is well!

Mrs. Latham,
I’m taking biology 243 lecture and 243 lab this semester at USC which is anatomy and physiology here and our teacher gave us a huge lecture PowerPoint and said memorize everything on this for your exam in two weeks because you won’t have multiple choice or any word bank. The answers must come straight from your brain. I freaked out at first but after going through the notes it shocked me how much I already knew from taking anatomy last year (ha ha). It seemed like a pain to memorize all the seemingly tiny details last year but after only being in anatomy classes here for a week it's already paying off and seems more of a review which is so much nicer than being given all brand new overwhelming information all at once. So I just wanted to say thank you for preparing us so well for college anatomy. A lot the kids around me that took anatomy at their high schools are freaking out because they said they never got specific instruction or into any details about the systems like you had us do which is already expected of us here in the two weeks. So thank you very much its keeping me calm in my classes having such a good base of anatomy.
Also, I was wondering if there was a way to still access the lectures we watched yesterday in case there is something that I was unsure on because my lecture teacher has a very thick accent and lectures nonstop at 100 miles a minutes (ha ha).
Thanks!

Hi Mrs. Latham,
Hope all is well! I don't know if you know this but I am majoring in biological sciences at the University of Alabama and plan on graduating next December. This time next year, I will be applying to pharmacy school. I wanted to reach out to you to update you a little on my education and to let you know how great of an influence you had on my career decisions. I'm currently taking immunology this semester and, after several class periods, I still feel like I am reviewing because of how much I learned in your anatomy class senior year. In case any of your students are griping and complaining about the flipped classroom style of teaching, just let them know that it works! Not only did it prepare me for the way college classes are instructed, but I still remember so much 3 years later. I feel like without your classes in biology sophomore year and anatomy senior year, I never would have felt compelled to pursue a career in health. Just wanted to say thank you and hope you are having a great year so far!
Sincerely,
Alexa U
